Fire/smoke resisting dampers are used to prevent fire and smoke from passing from one compartment to another through Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. It is important that such dampers are adequately fire tested and are installed in accordance with the damper manufacturer's instruction which must take into account site conditions and the variable order of different trades from contract to contract. The 'Grey Book' document provides practical advice so that damper manufacturers, system designers and installers are able to consider the appropriate issues and at the design stage, to make the necessary decisions to ensure that dampers will function as intended by current regulations.
The NEW ASFP 'Yellow Book' (5th edition) covers the fire protection of structural steelwork to provide compliance with building regulations. It has been fully revised to make it easier to navigate and to cater for the new fire test and assessment methods in Europe for cellular beams. It also It also and provides a comprehensive guide to proprietary materials and systems all of which are manufactured, marketed or site applied by members of ASFP.
The ASFP 'Blue Book' is an industry guide for those involved in the specification, installation, inspection and verification of fire rated ductwork. Includes colour diagrams of types and functions of various systems. It provides complementary information to the EN version entitled 'Fire Resisting Ductwork: classified according to BS EN 13501 Parts 3 and 4'
This is the 1st edition of the European version of the ASFP publication 'Fire Resisting Ductwork: classified according to BS EN 13501 Parts 3 and 4' and wholly based on EN fire tests and classifications. It provides complementary information to the UK version entitled 'Fire resisting ductwork: tested to BS 476 Part 24: 2nd Edition' which is limited to fire test data from BS 476 Part 24 tests. Both documents provide guidance to best practice for the use of ducts in buildings. The European version will be valid for tests and classifications from EN 13501 Parts 3 and 4 under the European Construction Products Directive [or proposed Regulation] whereas the BS 476-24 test method may remain useful in applications outside the European Community.
The ASFP 'Purple Book' is the definitive guide to the provision of proprietary materials and systems used to provide fire rated partitions. It gives guidance on both the fire resistance and reaction to fire performances when tested to both British and European standards. There is also guidance on the design, construction and maintenance of fire rated partitions in buildings.
The ASFP 'Orange Book' provides guidance on the use of proprietary fire retardant coating systems to enhance the fire performance of robust substrates that are commonly used in the UK's construction industry.
This has been updated and consolidated into a single publication to make it more easily downloadable. It is the definitive guide to the provision of proprietary materials and systems used to provide fire stopping and sealing of penetrations within fire separating elements to comply with building regulations. This publication only includes data sheets for products which have been third party certificated and issued with an ASFP URN (Unique reference number).
